Privacy Policy

Smilerti for iPhone · Effective October 26, 2026

In short

Smilerti makes your photo strips on your iPhone and keeps them there. The app has no account, no servers for your photos, no ads and no tracking. Your photos only leave your iPhone when you share them yourself, or, in two-phone mode, when they go directly and encrypted to the other iPhone you linked.

Who we are

Smilerti is a photo booth app for iPhone, developed in Romania. For anything about this policy, write to [email protected].

Camera and photos

Smilerti uses the camera to take the four shots of your strip. Everything that happens to a photo, including finding faces to frame each shot, noticing a smile to start the countdown, applying looks and papers, and building the strip, runs on your iPhone with Apple's frameworks. The photos are not uploaded anywhere.

When you save a strip, Smilerti asks only for permission to add photos to your library. It never reads your existing photos.

Starting with your voice

If you choose to start a strip by saying “Cheese!”, Smilerti uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition only while that option is on. Recognition runs on your iPhone. Nothing is recorded, stored or sent.

Two-phone mode

Two-phone mode is optional. When you link a second iPhone by scanning a QR code, the two phones talk to each other directly over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity with encryption required. The second phone's shots and the finished strip travel only between those two phones, never to the internet or to us. Each phone sees the other's device name as iOS reports it (usually just “iPhone”). iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time you use this mode.

What is stored on your iPhone

  • your strips and their history, so you can export them again or change their paper later;
  • your settings, such as the last booth and paper you used;
  • small previews of your latest strips for Smilerti's widgets.

This data is part of your normal iPhone backup (iCloud or computer), which is managed by Apple and by you. You can delete strips in the app, and deleting the app removes everything it stored.

Sharing and printing

When you share or print a strip, it goes through the iOS share sheet or AirPrint to the app or printer you choose, under that service's own privacy policy, not through us.

Purchases

Premium is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never receive your name, payment details or Apple Account. The app checks on your iPhone whether you have Premium.

What we do not do

  • no account or login;
  • no advertising, analytics or tracking in the app;
  • no uploading of your photos to any server;
  • no selling or sharing of your data.

If you test Smilerti through TestFlight, Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with the developer under Apple's own privacy policy.

Email to support

If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to answer you and improve the app, and we delete it when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

Because your photos stay on your device, you control them directly. If you wrote to us and want your messages deleted, or have any question about this policy, write to [email protected]. Under the GDPR you may also complain to your data protection authority; in Romania that is ANSPDCP.

Children

Smilerti is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. It collects no personal data from anyone.

Changes

If the app starts doing anything new with data, such as downloading new booth and paper designs or counting anonymous app usage, this policy will be updated first. The new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
